Floating near the top of the line, right after the _, is ゙: two tiny strokes that make up a dakuten, the mark Japanese adds to kana to voice them, so カ (ka) becomes ガ (ga). This one is the half-width form (HALFWIDTH KATAKANA VOICED SOUND MARK), and in half-width katakana it's typed as a separate character after the kana it changes, as in ガ. Here the character in front of it is that _, which has no sound to voice, so the mark just hangs in the air, like the clatter of keys or a blur of busy hands. To its left is the laptop. \, a full-width backslash (FULLWIDTH REVERSE SOLIDUS), slants down from near the top of the line, and its lower end almost meets the left end of _, a full-width underscore lying flat along the bottom. Seen from the side, that's a screen tilted back and the base with the keyboard. To the right of the dakuten come two katakana ヘ (he). Each one is a little peak with a short stroke dropping to the left, toward the laptop, and a long one dropping to the right, toward the face, so they read as two arms reaching out from the face, fingertips coming down toward the keys. The face itself, (・ω・´o), has no spaces at all. The left eye ・ comes right after the opening parenthesis, and both eyes and the mouth ω, the Greek omega, sit toward the left side. After the right eye comes ´ (ACUTE ACCENT), higher than the eyes and rising to the right. It's the same character in the same spot as the right eyebrow of (`・ω・´), the classic determined face, but there's no left eyebrow here. Then, just inside the closing parenthesis, there's a lowercase o, as tall as the ω. With the eyes and mouth pushed to the left and ´ and o filling the right, the face looks turned toward the laptop, and the o reads like a round cheek. That one raised brow gives it a focused, all-business look. On X, it showed up inside a post, right after a line that said, roughly, "Diary sent, at this hour again!", and the face itself was followed by カタカタ (katakata), the Japanese sound of clacking keys.
