≧(ᯣ̂⌓ᯣ̂)≦

≧ and ≦, the outermost characters, are a > and a < each standing on two short horizontal bars (GREATER-THAN OVER EQUAL TO and LESS-THAN OVER EQUAL TO). In (≧▽≦), the same pair sits inside the parentheses as eyes squeezed shut with laughter. Here they're outside, both points aimed in at the face, while the eyes inside the parentheses are wide open. Squeezed-shut shapes on the outside and wide-open eyes on the inside share one line, and the whole thing reads like someone clenching their eyes shut, then flinging them open to look again. Each eye, ᯣ, is a letter of the Batak script from northern Sumatra, Indonesia (BATAK LETTER MBA). In this site's font, ᯣ is a wide, flat oval ring with a single black dot in the middle: lots of white, and a pupil shrunk to a pinpoint, the way cartoons draw someone who's just been startled. Over each ᯣ sits ̂, the circumflex you know from French ê, in its combining form (COMBINING CIRCUMFLEX ACCENT). On this site it isn't centered over the eye. It sits up near the oval's right end, and most of it hangs out past the oval's right edge. Both circumflexes are shifted the same way, so the one over the left eye sits closer to ⌓ in the middle of the face, and the one over the right eye sits closer to the closing parenthesis. Read as eyebrows, they don't match. Between the eyes, ⌓ (SEGMENT) is the piece of a circle cut off by one straight line: an arc on top, a flat line underneath, hollow inside. Set between those staring eyes, it looks like a mouth left hanging open with no words coming out. On X, this kaomoji ended a post that reported game results in numbers, for example how many moles got whacked in whack-a-mole, and it's easy to read the face as doing a double take at that number.
