ᐠ( ^ᐤ^ )ᐟ

GRAVE and ACUTE are the names Unicode gives this face's two arms: ᐠ is CANADIAN SYLLABICS FINAL GRAVE, and ᐟ is CANADIAN SYLLABICS FINAL ACUTE. They slope the same way as the accent marks that share those names, ` and ´: ᐠ runs down to the right, ᐟ runs up to the right. Each is a short, thick stroke, less than half the height of the parentheses, set just outside them at about the level of the eyes. The lower end of each sits by a parenthesis and the upper end points up and away from the face, so the pair reads as two arms thrown up in a cheer. The mouth, ᐤ (FINAL RING), comes from the same script, the syllabics used to write Cree, Inuktitut and other Indigenous languages of Canada. It is a small hollow ring, wedged between the two ^ with no space on either side, and it sits at about the same height as they do. In \(^o^)/, the \ and / are nearly as tall as the parentheses and the o sits below the eyes. Here the short arms and the mouth all stay up high, the lower part of the parentheses is left empty, and the whole face seems to be looking up, mid-"yay!". There is one half-width space just after ( and another just before ). On X, the face came at the very end of a post about arriving in Tokyo: the weather had been bad, but the typhoon hadn't caused any trouble, and the poster was really glad about it.
