The ¯ used for the eyes is the macron, a bar that runs high in the type body. Because it sits at the ceiling of the character, it reads not as a drooping lid but as a line laid over the eye from above — so this is not sleepiness, it is deliberate narrowing. The mouth ꒳ is a Yi radical: three short verticals hanging from a crossbar. The * on each cheek is a flush, and the ﾆﾔﾆﾔ outside is onomatopoeia — this face is supplying its own sound effect. Someone who already knows something and is not saying it yet.
